Supporting the next generation of nursing

Jeannette C. Richard Memorial Scholarship

Who was Jeannette?

Jeannette Richard was a native of Central Falls, Rhode Island. She earned her Associates degree from Providence College and received her nursing training form the St Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing. During her forty-plus years of nursing she worked in several disciplines including Surgical, Pediatrics and for most of her career, as an Emergency Medicine Nurse. She loved being a Nurse and she was very good at it.

When not at a shift, working as a nurse, she was always the consummate hostess.  In her professional and personal life she seemed driven by one thing. She did everything in her power to ensure that everyone around her was having the best time possible and living life to the fullest measure.

Whether you were a sick child who needed consoling, a criminal who was being detained by the police and needed medical attention, the victim of a drunk driver, or even the actual drunk driver; everyone received the best care, treatment and education she could possibly provide.

If you were a guest in her home or a guest at her campground, she would not rest until everyone was fed, had a drink in their hand and a laugh in their belly. That is who she was and that is what she did.

She was a nurse, a teacher, wife, mother, hostess,  who was fierce kind, generous. When we award a scholarship, our hope is to support a nurse she would want by her side.
